Chocolateria San Churro

For a delicious, chocolatey treat you can’t go past Chocolateria San Churro on Rundle Street in the city’s east end.

Rundle Street now has a number of dessert bars so there is quite a choice for a chocolate fix, however San Churro is family friendly with child size options and a huge selection of sweet treats on offer, plus a few healthy options too.

Chocolateria San Churro’s delicious desserts, cakes and hot drinks

For ice cream loving children like mine there are scrumptious ice cream sundaes and shakes as well desserts and cakes, the ever popular macarons, taste plates and smoothies.Β  We also discoveredΒ Chocarons –Β a delicious macaron in assorted flavours coated inΒ dark couverture chocolate.

Of course there are delicious churros to order as a serve for one, two or for a whole family to share.Β  The selection of hot drinks is vast with great coffee and even better – couverture mocha – a hot chocolate (white, milk or dark) with a shot of fresh espresso!

On our latest visit the treat of choice was an ice cream cone in a chocolate and sprinkle coated cone and a macaron sandwich – a giant cookies and cream macaron with your choice of ice cream in the middle.Β  Oh, and churros to share with Mum and Dad!

Churros con chocolate

Most Spaniards get their daily chocolate hit by devouring β€˜ churros con chocolate’. Churros, or Spanish doughnuts, are long, lightly deep-fried pastries made from a light flour and water batter.Β  Crispy, golden and dusted with cinnamon sugar, churros are traditionally served with a cup of thick and rich Spanish hot chocolate. ΒNot only are churros the signature dish of the chocolateria, but they’re also a classic and popular breakfast item and a humble yet formidable star of Spanish cuisine.
