Easy Bushwalk for Kids | Eurilla Track Mt Lofty | Review

An easy bushwalk for kids – Eurilla Track to Mt Lofty Summit

Has your family ever had those days when everyone is feeling a little frustrated at being cooped up, the telly has been on too long and you’re all a little fidgety? We find a bush walk makes everyone feel happier and calmer in our household.

We decided to go for a short bush walk with the kids that wasn’t too steep, too arduous or too far away. There are plenty of places to stop around Mt Lofty to go for a walk. On this occasion we chose the Eurilla Track.

To get there from the South-Eastern Freeway, turn left at the Crafers roundabout and head up Mt Lofty Summit Rd, past Mt Lofty House and pull over to a little off-road parking area about 40 metres before the road leading to Cleland Wildlife Park. Once you’ve stopped, walk in a northerly direction down the road for about 30 metres then cross over and head toward the Conservation Park gate.

We followed the Warre Track which headed downwards into the valley. This is a really easy track to walk on with distant views over the beautiful Piccadilly Valley.

There were plenty of birds around and an abundance of beautiful wildflowers everywhere.

Once you reach another split in the track you can head down towards Sprigg Rd, however, we chose the slightly steep path (not too steep) up towards the summit.

Once near the top of the path, we turned left and we found a castle, Carminow Castle, circa 1885, complete with tower.

From this point onwards, it was a super-easy walk towards Mt Lofty Summit, parallel to the carpark. The track then opens up to the carpark or winds down and then up and around to the summit where you can enjoy a coffee, toilet break or simply take in the views over Adelaide.  Our kids love to climb up on the white tower which overlooks panoramic views of Adelaide.

After a little break, we headed back down the hill. However, we chose not to venture back down the steep path, but kept heading along the wider path which is much shorter. It’s always good to know there is a shortcut in case little legs get tired!

All of us enjoyed being active, enjoying nature and spending time with one another.

What we love about bushwalking along the Eurilla Track:

❤️ Ah, the serenity!

❤️ Beautiful views

❤️ Easy walking path and not too far for littler legs

❤️ Lots of flowers, insects and plants to see

❤️ Beautiful views and Mt Lofty Summit Cafe at the top
