Venture through the seasons with Little Nutbrown Hare

Lovers of the classic children’s tale, Guess How Much I Love You, will be delighted to discover it has been transformed into a new theatre production complete with loveable life sized puppets.
Guess How Much I Love You takes the premise of the original children’s short story of a father and a child finding bigger and better ways to express how much they love each other, and builds on it to explore how the seasons and people change with time.
A story of how all things change, even little hares
The story follows Little Nutbrown Hare as he discovers how his home in the meadow changes with each season, as he slowly gets bigger. Summer’s acorn turns into springtime’s sapling. Autumn’s caterpillar turns into winter’s chrysalis and springtime’s butterfly. Springtime brings new life, and even a few centimetres of height for Little Nutbrown Hare!
The stage is set in a grassy meadow with a big oak tree at its centre and distant hills in the background. Each season brings a special transformation of the same set; autumn leaves flutter by, winter snowballs fly through the air, pink flowers appear in the meadow in spring.
When I asked my little people for their thoughts on the show, my little 4-year-old said her favourite part of the performance was the twinkling fireflies. When asked for her review, Miss 6 year old said she loved it to the moon and back!
Small children will enjoy this playful stage show and may even learn a thing or two about the passing of the seasons and fun ways to tell the special people in our lives how much we love them.
Guess How Much I Love You’s final show at Dunstan Playhouse is on 21 December 2021. The show will also play at various venues across Australia during 2022.
