Adelaide Steampunk Festival
Join a celebration of frivolity and festivity to blow off steam and revel in all that is Steampunk.
Steampunk is late 19th century science fiction. It is not meant to indicate a specific culture, but rather references a time period and an aesthetic: the industrialised 19th century. Steampunk uses this existing technology and structure to imagine an even more advanced 19th century, often complete with Victorian-inspired wonders like steam-powered aircraft and mechanical computers. It draws inspiration from science fiction of the time such as Jules Verne and H. G. Wells, and throughout the 20th century there have been later-day science fiction stories set against a steampunk aesthetic such as the Hollywood movie starring Will Smith, Wild Wild West.
At the Adelaide Steampunk Festival you can dine on a delectable array of food stalls or peruse and acquire exquisite conversation pieces in the Artist’s Alley. Or, indulge and collect creative oddities from the Market Stalls and let the amazing costumes and raucous music blow your senses.
