Klemzig Recreation Reserve Playground | Review

The Klemzig Recreation Reserve Playground is a huge, sprawling playground with equipment for all ages. There’s plenty to climb, slide and ride on, and every section of the playground is fully shaded.

Review by Claire Davill

For kids who love to climb, there are plenty of climbing nets, including hoops and a suspended tunnel, as well as ring grips on ropes to traverse.

A second climbing frame has more ring grips, wobbly monkey bars, rope stepping stones and a small climbing wall.

A third climbing net has wobbly planks and a slack rope with hand rope.

There’s a nice big double flying fox with small soft-fall slope for launching. As of our 2025 review, the second flying fox line with an accessible harness seat was out of action.

The soft-fall slope continues up to a hill with steps, and a bendy slide.

Nearby there is a rubber suspension bridge over the nature play dry creek, an angled spinning wheel and two small swings.

There’s equipment for toddlers too, with a small double slide, platform with telescope, sloping tunnel, spiral bar, ring grips, climbing nets and a small climbing wall. There’s also a springy horse here.

Keep an eye out for the cute little houses here too – some have plaques on them, and some can be drawn on with chalk.

The playground is surrounded by native landscaping, with paths, logs and boulders to play on.

A large area of lawn separates the playground from the O.G. Road carpark. Near this carpark there is a toilet block, basketball hoop and tennis courts.

There are wide, flat and smooth paths running adjacent to the playground and around the oval, great for a bike ride.

There are 3 shelters each with a table and benches and bbq. Two of them are right beside the playground. The other one is across the grass area, beside the tennis courts.

The adult gym below is at the far end of the playground and beyond the Klemzig Community Hall building below is where there is no fencing and access to the car park.

Location:

OG Road, North East Road & Wellington Street, Klemzig

The playground is situated directly behind the O.G Hotel and is fenced along the car park areas (including the hotel car park) and along O.G. Road and all around the play area so kids are not near any of the busy roads. Unfortunately it is not fully fenced.

Adjacent to the playground is an outdoor adults’ gym area and just beyond there, it is not fenced and there is access to another car park area, so little ones who are runners or who like to wander, do need to be closely supervised.

It is just a little frustrating that a new playground gets built in this day and age yet no sun shades are put up over the play equipment…….? Still looks great though.

Thank you for making the point about the playground not being fully fenced.

We had a potentially scary incident there yesterday when I realised this. Partially fencing an area from the road and carpark can give the illusion that its fully fenced from the road and carpark. I will be contacting the council on Tuesday to make a complaint.
