Kmart Shopping Birthday Party | A Teen/Tween Party Idea
A Victorian mum has come up with the clever idea of throwing a Kmart birthday party for her daughter’s 13th birthday.
If you’re stuck on what to do for your teen’s next party, Shannon Cassidy, mum of two, may have the answer for you. She came up with the brilliant idea of celebrating her daughter’s 13th birthday with what teenage girls love best – shopping! Shannon shared her Kmart Challenge party idea on the popular Facebook group Kmart Mums Australia, gaining thousands of likes, comments and shares from fellow parents.
In her post she said: “My daughter just turned 13 and at loss of what to do for a party, we came up with the Kmart Challenge. Each guest was given a specially made envelope with cash in it to burn in Kmart, then lunch at the food court and home. Easiest party I’ve ever done.”
Shannon allowed her daughter Charli to invite four of her friends along for a Kmart shopping-spree. Each guest was given $30 to spend on whatever they wanted at Kmart. They used it to buy a variety of items including frames, earrings, stationery, drink bottles, lollies and even some toys for their pets. They had plenty of fun along the way.
Afterwards she simply took them to the food court for an easy lunch and a cinnamon doughnut “cake” from Donut King!
She also gave out trophies for the Kmart Challenge (bought from Kmart of course) to the girls. She included categories they could win like ‘smart saver’, ‘most items’ and ‘best shopper’.
This is an inexpensive and simple way to create a fun party for any teen and their friends who love shopping, while also allowing them to learn about budgeting at the same time. You also don’t need to organise any ‘party bags’ as their purchases are their take home gifts. Another win!
