Messy Play Ideas: How to make Soap Slime
Making soap slime is a lot of fun and a great sensory activity for kids. This soap slime is made with soap flakes, so at least it’s a clean messy play activity!
What you’ll need to make Soap Slime
- A big container to mix it in
- 2 cups pure soap flakes (eg Lux Flakes)
- 2 L warm water
- Food colouring in different colours (optional)
- A hand beater, or better still an electric beater
- Kitchen utensils
How to make Soap Slime
Mix the soap flakes and warm water together in a big container and then let stand until cool enough to touch. You could even make this mixture up in a baby bath.
Add food colouring to the mixture. Or, if you want to make rainbow slime, then separate the mixture into separate bowls and add a drop or two of food colouring to each bowl before combining the slime.
Tips for perfect soap slime
❤️ The longer you let the mixture stand the thicker it becomes. Add more water for a thinner consistency.
❤️ You can make the mixture by hand, or use an electric whisk if you’re short on time – this also makes thicker, fluffier slime.
❤️ Make rainbow soap slime by splitting the mixture into batches and adding a different colour to each batch.
❤️ Make sparkly slime by adding glitter or foil stars to the mixture.
❤️ Use on a flat surface such as a table, or put in a shallow tray.
❤️ Kids can have fun using kitchen utensils to mix the slime.
