Japanese Film Festival Plus – Free Streamed Festival
From tales of time travel to enchanting animated adventures and a geisha-inspired musical comedy, the Japanese Film Festival returns from 4 – 13 December 2020 with JFF Plus: Online Festival, a free streamed Festival featuring the very best in Japanese cinema.
The 2020 Festival, presented by The Japan Foundation Sydney, will screen over 25 films including features, documentaries, as well as stop motion and animated shorts for audiences across Australia and New Zealand to enjoy online.
Films are available for 24 hours only, from the scheduled starting times. You will no longer be able to playback films when they reach the 24-hour expiration limit.
Family Friendly Films
Gon, the Little Fox (2019) | Saturday 5 December 2020 – Available at 2.30pm
When Gon, a playful orphaned fox, finds that young Hyoju has lost his mother, he tries to comfort him and make amends for his own earlier mischiefs by secretly bringing small gifts to the boy every day. But Hyoju doesn’t realize who is behind the anonymous gifts, and the two are headed for a heartbreaking climax.
Sumikkogurashi: Good to be in the corner (2019) | Monday 7 December 2020 – Available at 2.30pm ACDT
Sumikko and friends discover a pop-out picture book in the basement of Cafe Sumikko, their favorite coffeeshop. As they look at the book, the pop-ups suddenly start moving and Sumikko and friends get sucked into the book.
Norman the Snowman – The Northern Light (2013) | Tuesday 8 December 2020 – Available at 2.30pm
As the first snow falls on a town in the northern country, a boy sneaks out of his house to board a northbound train with his friend “Norman the Snowman.” They are off to witness the beautiful wonders of nature that Norman had always talked about.
Norman the Snowman – On a Night of Shooting Stars (2016) | Thursday 10 December 2020 – Available at 2.30pm
Tomorrow is the night of the shooting stars! A new chapter of “Norman the Snowman” begins as Norman and the Boy embark on another venture to see the star-filled sky.
Moon of a Sleepless Night | Sunday 13 December 2020 – Available at 2.30pm
A squirrel and a boy set out on a journey together to restore daylight. They must find and release the moon stuck high up on a tree somewhere far, far away.
