Institute Building Recreated Brick By Brick
See the iconic Institute Building in a new way when you visit the State Library of SA. A LEGO model of the Institute Building, built by Harald Christ, is now on display in the Circulating Library.
The model depicts the building as it was when it opened in 1861, before the 1907 expansions. Designed and built over the course of two months, the model contains about 7500 pieces. It was originally built as part of a larger model in 2016 as a way to start community consultation.
Built by the state’s largest LEGO club, Southern Bricks LEGO User Group, it included a scaled version of Adelaide’s iconic biomedical precinct, state-of-the-art sports stadium and government buildings.
It will be on display at the State Library until 29 October 2023. Entry is free.
