MasterChef’s Callum Hann and Themis Chryssidis San Remo Online Cooking Event

An exciting, live and free event will be taking place this Friday with MasterChef’s Callum Hann, leading dietitian Themis Chryssidis and San Remo.

In an all-South Australian collaboration, Sprout owners Callum Hann and Themis Chryssidis have teamed up with San Remo to take on the food delivery driver in a live, online cooking event this Friday 25 September at 6:30pm Adelaide time.

The challenge, taking place on the San Remo Facebook page is open for Aussies to participate in and will see Callum and Themis cooking up a Pumpkin and Basil Carbonara that is cheaper and quicker than a food delivery meal, and also showcases the benefits of home cooking. The pasta dish costs the same as a delivery fee per serve and is a delicious, nutritious, family-friendly meal that viewers can make from the comfort of their own home.

More and more Australians are using delivery services rather than cooking at home. However, the cost of a single serve pasta dish on food delivery apps can be anywhere from $15 to $25, which is crazy considering you can be buying ingredients to feed a whole family on less. Callum and Themis are excited to showcase and remind Aussies that for the same cost as a delivery fee per serve, and less time than delivery takes, you can make a quick, easy and nutritious pasta meal in your own home.

The Challenge:

After clicking “order” on a takeaway version of the carbonara, the pair will begin cooking, going head to head with the delivery driver. The aim is to have the San Remo pasta dish served up and on the table before the food delivery arrives.

The Recipe:

The Pumpkin and Basil Carbonara ingredients list and recipe can be found here so home cooks can join the event prepared to cook up a storm with Callum, Themis and San Remo.

The recipe, sure to become a family favourite, is a modern take on traditional carbonara using ingredients such as butternut pumpkin, bacon, spring onion and spinach. The event is free, and cooks of all skill levels will be able to follow along with the dynamic duo as they guide viewers through five simple steps to make the dish.

Competition:

San Remo is also holding a competition for anyone who cooks this recipe at home. To enter, simply post an image on Instagram and tag @SanRemoPasta and @Sproutadl and you could be the lucky winner of one of three San Remo ‘Love Packs’.
