Kids Eat Free at the Mick O’Shea’s Hotel in Hackham.

If you want to take the family out for dinner without blowing the budget, head to Mick O’Shea’s Hotel and take advantage of their kids eat free deals.

Review By Jo Parkinson

Situated on Main South Road at Hackham, Mick O’Shea’s Hotel has loads of character, and is full of Irish charm and hospitality. With a large restaurant area, beer garden, private function area, school holiday activities, and even seasonal igloos, there is something to suit all occasions.

Every Thursday from 5pm to 8pm, kids (aged 12 and under) receive a free meal from the kid’s menu, with the purchase of any adult main meal. The offer is also available during school holidays from Monday to Thursday.

As an added bonus, for only $5 extra, you can get the Premium Kiddies Upgrade. This includes a soft drink or juice, ice cream sundae and an activity pack.

We booked our reservation online, and the process was quick and simple. If you have young children or kids that don’t like sitting quietly for extended periods, we recommend getting there early, around 5:30pm, as the restaurant wasn’t as busy.

The main menu has a wide variety of options to choose from, including burgers, schnitzels, chicken bowls and much more. It also caters for vegans, as well as people who are gluten free, dairy free and vegetarians.

We enjoyed wedges with sweet chilli and sour cream to start with, followed by a delicious Pulled Chicken Burrito Bowl and tasty Southern Fried Chicken Burger.

A mouthwatering Cheeseburger and yummy piece of Battered Fish with chips were a hit with our kids, and quickly devoured! The meals were all of a generous size.

The kids felt very independent when they went to the bar to order their soft drinks. When they had finished their main meal, they were delighted to receive their ice cream sundaes, complete with sprinkles.

Mick O’Shea’s Hotel has a space to suit everyones needs. For cold winter nights, the restaurant is the place to be! With the fireplace roaring, it makes the area super cosy.

On warmer days or nights, the beer garden would be perfect to sit outside and enjoy a nice meal. There is plenty of seating outdoors and even a grassed area where kids can run around.

If you have a special occasion to celebrate, you can hire the undercover private function area. As an added bonus for those who are not from the area (or are planning a big night!) hotel rooms are available to book.

For something super special and fun you could book a private winter igloo. Designed more for adults rather than families, the igloos can host up to 8 people and are available to book until 18 September 2023.  More information about the igloos can be found on their website. Bookings must be made prior to your visit.

During school holidays kids can not only eat free from Monday to Thursday, Mick O’Shea’s also host a range of activities such as scavenger hunts, plaster painting, outdoor movies, reptile show and kids trivia nights. The activities are all at an additional cost. To book or find out more information, please visit their website.

Mick O’Shea’s Hotel is a fun, charming venue with hearty food and a range of facilities. It’s great value for money and we can bet there will be happy faces and full tummies at the end of your visit!
