Newenham Linear Park & Trail | Open Jan 2020

Newenham Linear Park Trail

Burke Urban are thrilled to announce the new Newenham Linear Park and shared walk and bike path is open to the Newenham and Mount Barker communities.

The Linear Park trail is two-kilometre walk, ride or run from Newenham into the town centre of Mount Barker. This will provide easy access to the retail and dining heart of the town, as well as the bus interchange which travels into Adelaide.

Sitting alongside the magnificent Western Flat Creek, which flows through the heart of Newenham, the new walk and bike trail joins the existing path in Keith Stephenson Park forming a 16-kilometre round trip. From Newenham through Mount Barker and on to the Laratinga Wetlands. The wetlands are of the most successful and diverse wetlands in Australia, and the only one of its kind in South Australia.

The Linear Park trail also takes in the natural environment of Newenham, which includes a range of native vegetation and local birdlife. As well as a bio-diversity corridor, native vegetation, wetlands and a viewing platform, which is perfect for the whole family to explore together.

Burke Urban’s Marketing and Sales Director, Olivia Burke, said,

The Newenham Linear Park and shared path is an incredible asset for our residents and the local Mount Barker community. It allows a connection between the two communities, and ensures the exciting upcoming developments at Newenham, including the Newenham farm and market café, are accessible to the Mount Barker community.

The trail also provides a relaxing and safe walk for families who will attend Kings Baptist Grammar School, expected to open in 2023 with Reception – Year 2, and additional year levels added each year after.

Newenham’s Linear Park is also part of Adelaide Hills Sculpture Trail featuring ‘Sculptors’ by Lui Yang which was created especially for Newenham. The complete Adelaide Hills Sculpture Trail is made up of 26 contemporary stone sculptures by artists from all over the world. There is also a ‘mini trail’ consisting of seven sculptures in Mount Barker with Newenham being one end of the mini trail.
