Nook & Nourish Cafe | Moonta, South Australia | Review
This cheery, Insta-worthy eatery will be your happy place while on the Yorke Peninsula. Think fresh healthy fare, multicoloured walls, and positive vibes.

If you haven’t been to Nook & Nourish in Moonta, no doubt you’ll feel like you have … it would’ve popped up on your social media feeds before!
Its beautifully painted, cheery walls are just made for the ‘gram. And nicely, the scrummy food and drink will also make your stomach sing.
We lunched there recently while holidaying with friends at the BIG4 in the nearby Port Hughes. Moonta is just four minutes’ drive away (and also the bigger of the towns).
Nook & Nourish is situated on Moonta’s ‘mainy’, George Street. The strip gave me similar vibes to Sorrento’s on the Mornington Peninsula with its hippie shops, surf stores, and trendy eateries.
This corner cafe is well-known for its seasonal juices and smoothies, along with its smoothie bowls (including the famed acai snickerz bowl), raw desserts, rolls, salads, and sushi. Plus, of course, organic coffee and herbal teas.
There are also plenty of vegetarian, vegan, gluten- and sugar-free options, and a ‘mini me’ eats and drinks menu. During the peak summer months, the cafe trades seven days a week.
Nicely, on our visit, we snagged an outdoor table. I ordered the chilli scrambled eggs special for lunch, comprising eggs, homemade chilli oil, whipped feta, fried capers, and sourdough bread. I paired this with a ‘Lifesaver’ orange, apple, watermelon, and pineapple juice. Yum.
My husband and sons had already grabbed lunch at the (equally delectable) Cornish Kitchen bakery just around the corner. However, one of my lads also snared a vanilla-flavoured Butterbing cookie from Nook for dessert.
My pal, Sharon, below, ordered the chilli scrambled eggs for lunch too, which she declared “the best thing she’d eaten the whole trip”. Meanwhile, her two young daughters got sushi and smoothies – the latter flavoured ‘Spliced’ (pineapple, spinach, apple, and lime) and ‘Snickers’ (choc-caramel protein, peanut butter, banana, and almond milk).
Apparently, the choc one tasted just like a Snickers bar too! Other fun, kid-friendly smoothie options include ‘The Hulk’ and ‘Paw Patrol’.
Sharon’s husband got a hearty ‘Big Bird’ burger, featuring a fried egg, double bacon, cheese, a hash brown, tomato chutney, and spinach.
We all left satisfied, though not before taking prerequisite shots beside the establishment’s smile-inducing walls.
You’ll certainly be seeing the café on our social media feeds again!
PS. The business is currently on the market if you happen to be looking for a sea change. 🙂
What we like about it
- Its fresh, healthy fare (but also has hearty options like curries)
- The special kids’ menu
- That it caters to a range of dietary needs
- Its cheerful, rainbow-coloured walls and food/drink – it’ll definitely be your ‘happy place’ while in town
- The white, light-filled interior elsewhere and ample outdoor seating
Things to consider
- The cafe is on the cosier size, so nab a table while you can – indoor or out!
