Oliphant Science Awards Open Day
Go along to the 2021 Oliphant Science Awards Open Day to experience the fun and magic of science in action. This year is a celebration of 40 years of the Oliphant Science Awards.
There will be several engaging Science Shows including presentations by Professor Flint, Bright Sparks Entertainment, Nature Education Centre and Nitro Nat. Get hands-on with Come & Try stations from TechSpace Learning, Oliphant Science Awards Ambassadors and SA Science Teachers Association or have a browse through their 2021 winning projects.
Food and beverages will be available to purchase on the day to help support some of our local community groups including Rotary Club of Regency Park, who will be raising scholarship funds for a student to attend the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF).
Entry is a gold coin donation.
Come & Try Stations:
- Learn how to code using Spheroโs with the South Australian Science Teachers Association (take along a bluetooth enabled device to have a go)
- Operate interactive gadgets with Tech Space Learning demonstrating how to program and use Arduino microprocessors
- Chat with Oliphant Science Awards Ambassadors about their experience with OSA and check out some of their winning projects
Fun & Food:
- Purchase a sausage or burger from the Regency Park Rotary Club barbecue โ proceeds go towards the National Youth Science Forum
- Fairy floss giveaways from Fairy Floss Galore
- Hot beverages to purchase from Festival Functions
- Fill up your drink bottle at the SA Water Quench Bench SA

12:15pm – DINOSAURS DOWN UNDER | Heaps Good Productions
Australia has an amazing pre-history; join Professor Flint on a journey through this amazing land known to the world as the โLand Down Underโ.
12:45pm – DR QUARKโS SCIENTIFIC CIRCUS | Bright Spark Entertainment
This high energy show explores the science and forces behind circus tricks we all love. Dr Quark demonstrates the effects of gravity, momentum, friction, air pressure, energy transfer and push and pull forces.
1:15pm – AMAZING ANIMALS STAGE SHOW | Nature Education Centre
An exciting glimpse into our Australian native animals lives, see a variety of our animals and learn what makes them so unique.
1:45pm – SNAKE CLOSE ENCOUNTER | Nature Education Centre
2.15pm – DR QUARKโS SCIENTIFIC CIRCUS | Bright Spark Entertainment
This high energy show explores the science and forces behind circus tricks we all love. He will apply the concepts above to more science demonstrations. That means wacky water rockets, groovy gyroscopes, leaf blower levitations and the incredible ostrich squeeze.
2:45pm – DINOSAURS DOWN UNDER | Heaps Good Productions
Australia has an amazing pre-history; join Professor Flint on a journey through this amazing land known to the world as the โLand Down Underโ.
3:15pm – CRAZY COLOURFUL CHEMISTRY SHOW | Nitro Nat
This show is full of amazing colourful chemical demonstrations, wicked but safe fire demonstrations and a jaw dropping finale.
