Penfield Park Railway | Miniature Train Rides

Penfield Park Railway holds open days on the last Sunday of each month from January to November, opens on Wednesdays during school holidays and offers twilight rides every second Saturday from October to March.

The Penfield Model Engineers Society (P.M.E.S) was formed with the primary aim of promoting the art of model and experimental engineering.  The ride on miniature railway has a total track length of about 1.9km supporting both  7 ¼” and 5” gauge trains.

After leaving the station the railway runs through the outer edge of the park,  crosses over itself via a gentle gradient and a steel bridge before passing through a tunnel on its way back to the station.

Other activities include indoor and outdoor garden model railways plus miniature excavator and trucks in the sandpit.  There are picnic areas available for party bookings and a canteen selling food and drinks.  The club rooms provide shelter both inside and under the two verandas should the weather become inclement. There are also outdoor shelters in the park area.
