Re:PLAY Eco-conscious, Family Friendly Workshops return to Adelaide Festival Centre’s Artspace from 15 – 18 July 2026.

Adelaide Festival Centre is hosting a series of vibrant, hands-on drop-in workshops during the July school holidays, designed for families to explore creativity through recycled and repurposed materials.

Led by prominent South Australian artists, these school holiday sessions invite children and their caregivers to dive into the world of sustainable art-making, transforming everyday items into imaginative masterpieces.

Whether you’re layering textures, building sculptures, or painting with unconventional tools, each workshop offers a new way to see beauty in the discarded and create with purpose.

Book a session, get inspired, and make something extraordinary together.

Sessions: Wednesday 15, Thursday 16, Friday 17 & Saturday 18 July 2026 | 10am, 12.30pm & 3pm

Duration: 2 hours

Have sensory-sensitive kids?

Adelaide Festival Centre will be hosting a relaxed crafting session with smaller group sizes, designed to support children with sensory sensitivities, and give them the freedom to be their authentic selves on Wednesday 15 July.

Supported by a grant from the Office for Autism, Government of South Australia.

Disney on Ice is one show we always look forward to. It’s honestly the best fun, spectacular to watch, and a great chance to experience some Disney magic without travelling far.

Some tips for people heading in this weekend or considering going:

> Even seats towards the back (which are cheaper) still have great visibility. The show is designed for large stadiums, so movements and production value cater for everyone.

> Be aware that merchandise is not cheap and they are dazzling for kids so prepare for this eg $55 for light up wands, $8.50 for a special straw for the snow cone.

> There’s some free street parking but be careful to read signs. We found free parking in River Street for those who don’t mind an approx 200m walk to the venue.

> Leave enough time to drive in and find a park. South Road roadworks is making things quite congested at the moment, especially on the way out!

> There are a couple of moments in the show with loud bangs due to pyrotechnics… this may startle young children but it only lasts a second.

> There was a great range of Disney characters this year. Most princesses made an appearance, and we loved the high energy of Encanto and Aladdin. Highlight was also Lightning McQueen from Cars. Toy Story also featured, which is great timing with the movie just out. Both boys and girls will love it.

> There is an interval which gives little ones (and those with peri-menopausal bladders that have entered a new phase of life) a toilet break, or a chance to stretch the legs.

It’s suitable for all ages, but especially for families with younger children. We’ve been with little kids who have sat in total wonder, but also took 16 yr olds one year who could not take the smile off their face as they sang and bopped to all the songs they grew up with and loved. Some of our team have been going for 19 years and still love it. There’s always something new and different each year.
