Rices Creek Mini Golf is an awesome place to stop and play in the pretty town of Auburn in the Clare Valley.

Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji

Mini golf is such a fun activity to do with kids. Mini golf encourages patience, teaches children valuable lessons in sportsmanship, supports them to be active and even helps build motor skills. As a family we jump at the chance to play mini golf all together because it’s something that connects us and is enjoyable for young and old. On a recent trip to the Clare Valley we came across a mini golf café and knew we had to stop and play.

Departing from the North-Eastern suburb of Modbury we started our Clare Valley trip having a coffee at Velvet & Willow and then making a bee-line to Rices Creek. Tucked away on Saddleworth Road, a few minutes from the heart of Auburn, Rices Creek is peaceful, cute and surrounded by trees. Upon entering the café, we signed up for three kids to do the 18-hole course and at the time of our visit this cost us just $6 a child (July 2026).

What we liked about this place was that it offered the full 18-hole experience, it is set in a natural, peaceful setting and there are shaded areas, tables and chairs and even an onsite café and small playground. The kids had a blast practicing their skills around the various holes. Some of them were a little tricky and needed a bit of parental assistance, we also found the kids got a little bit competitive so it was a good opportunity to impart some life lessons in a light hearted manner.

After the game we gave back our clubs and signed the indoor wall before embarking on our next adventure. We found Rices Creek to be a great place to keep the kids entertained and a nice way to start the day in Clare Valley. If you are visiting the area with kids, we would absolutely recommend this stop.
