SA Sports Voucher Program | 2 Vouchers per Child per year from 2025

The Sports Vouchers program provides an opportunity for school-aged children in South Australia from Reception to Year 9 to receive a discount on sports or dance membership/registration fees and learn to swim programs.  In 2025 it will also include music lessons.

Peter Malinauskas has announced the school sports vouchers program will DOUBLE to two $100 vouchers per child, per year from 1 January 2025.  The voucher will also be expanded to include music lessons.

A record number of 88,749 Sports Vouchers were claimed in 2023, saving South Australian families nearly $9 million.  In 2024, the program has been expanded to include Scouts and Girl Guides for the first time.

Now in its tenth year, the initiative has seen nearly 600,000 vouchers redeemed and provided more than $48 million towards helping South Australian children participate in sport and active recreation.

Families with children engaging in active recreation through Scouts and Girl Guides are now for the first time able to participate in the program, with changes coming into effect 1 January 2024.

The program is open to all school aged children up to Year 9, and in recent years has also been expanded to include learn to swim and dance. Those eligible can use one $100 voucher in a calendar year.

A record 88,749* vouchers were used in 2023 across 1,253 providers.

The most popular sports for the program in 2023 were Australian Rules (20,326), football (soccer) (13,169), netball (10,111), swimming (9,717) and gymnastics (6,791).

Who is eligible for the program?

All South Australian primary school aged children, meaning if the child is attending or is eligible to attend primary school (Reception to Year 6) plus children at high school in Year 7, 8 and 9.

It is one voucher for every child per calendar year.

How does the program work?

There are currently two methods of claiming a voucher. The method depends on the provider’s system. Some providers have online registrations, claiming the voucher has been integrated into their systems.

If the provider does not have the voucher integrated into their online registrations, you’ll need to download the voucher. Once completed, take the voucher to an approved provider to receive a discount on the fees when you register.
