Salisbury Community Hub Opening

An exciting weekend of family activities, food and entertainment will mark the beginning of a new chapter with the Salisbury Community Hub opening.

A new social heart of Salisbury, the Hub will offer a home away from home for the community to come together and learn, share ideas and celebrate in a range of exciting, dynamic spaces.

Some highlights of the Salisbury Community Hub that you can expect to see and use include:

  • Bookable multi-use spaces
  • Bleacher style staircase with accessible power points for those looking to study or just to charge your phone
  • Family rooms with feeding area, change tables and play boards to keep toddlers hands busy when handling bub
  • Contemplation room to use as a quiet space at any time of the day
  • Spacious and shaded terrace ideal for outdoor study, meetings or catch ups
  • Children’s library area with fun and educational reading pods, activity tables and all their favourite collections plus new additions.

On 30 November and 1 December 2019, the community will have the opportunity to explore what the Hub has to offer while enjoying FREE entertainment and activities for the whole family.

Highlights on Saturday 30 November include:

  • Salisbury Community Christmas Parade (presented in partnership with the Salisbury Business Association)
  • Smoking ceremony and multicultural performance
  • Musical acts including Local Revolution, Michaela Jenke, The Three Amigos +1
  • The Greatest Showman movie screening on the large outdoor screen
  • Santaā€™s Cave
  • Lego freeplay and colouring in station
  • Hub tours
  • Scientific Bubble Show
  • eSports featuring Smash Bros and Mario Kart
  • 3D printing exhibition
  • Hologram display
  • Roving entertainment, local acts and more

Highlights on Sunday 1 December include:

  • Salisbury Christmas Markets (presented in partnership with Salisbury Business Association)
  • Roving performers
  • Performances from Burundian Drummers SA, Salisbury City Band, Para Hills Brass Band and more
  • Christmas carols
  • Mayorā€™s story session
  • Augmented Reality gaming beginner class
  • Virtual reality with VIVE Pro Eye
  • Coding, robotics and Micro:Bit taster sessions
  • Hub tours
  • Lego free-play and colouring station

Scientific Bubble Show | Saturday 30 November 2019 at 2:20pm & 4:20pm

Marty McBubble will be presenting The Scientific Bubble Show during two sessions at 2.20pm and 4.20pm on Saturday 30 November as part of the Salisbury Community Hub opening celebrations.

Marty will use the amazing science of bubbles to conduct fun experiments showing how bubbles are created, why they pop, what itā€™s like to be inside a bubble and more.

While tickets are FREE, it is requested that participants reserve their place.

The Greatest Showman | Saturday 30 November 2019 at 6:30pm

Wind down from a big day of Salisbury Community Hub celebrations with a family movie shown on the Hubā€™s large outdoor screen. The Greatest Showman (rated PG) will be screened at 6:30pm on Saturday 30 November 2019 in the outdoor space in front of the Hub.

Hugh Jackman leads an all-star cast in this bold, original musical that follows visionary P.T. Barnum who rose from nothing to create a mesmerising spectacle.

A limited number of beanbags will be available for use, but feel free to take along picnic blankets.Ā While tickets are free, it is requested that participants reserve their place.
