Sierra Nevada Reserve | Pasadena | Review

The Sierra Nevada Reserve has a fantastic play space that incorporates nature play and climbing obstacles
Review by Adaire Prosser
Nestled underneath the shady gum trees, the playspace at Sierra Nevada Reserve has a great set up with a wide range of climbing options to suit every age. With everything from nice wide steps for toddlers, to rock climbing walls for older kids, there is plenty to wear out the kids and test their abilities.
The playground boasts three different sized slides and a range of different access options. Toddlers can easily access the smallest of the slides with enclosed stairs complete with a climbing rail. The castle design is is complete with windows to peek out of and area to play underneath.

From here, the options are endless with everything from rope bridges, to monkey bars and rock climbing walls, the older kids will have a blast putting their abilities to the test to get to the large tube slide. Our five year old reviewer had fun climbing right to the top of the nets and accessing the tube slide from here. The equipment has been designed so that kids can continuously climb from one side right to the other.

If your little one is not much of a climber, there are other play options as well. A shop style cubby is set up close to some nature play stepping logs. There is also a natural teepee, a swing set and two spinning turnstiles for some sensory stimulation.

The playground is in a nice shady spot on the reserve, with big gum trees providing shade for most of the day. The equipment also offers a bit of shade itself with some walls and roof area to protect from the sun. There is a shaded seating area and basketball hoop with a half court on the reserve. The reserve leads to some nice walking trails and nature areas to explore as part of the Pasadena biodiversity corridor. The reserve does not have toilet facilities.

Things to Consider:
- Although nice and shaded, not all areas are protected so would still encourage hats and sunscreen
- The playground is not fenced, and is located just off the busy Fiveash Drive. Keep an eye on little wanderers.
Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:
- The Pasadena Shopping Centre is located a short walk away on Fiveash Drive.
Location:
The Sierra Nevada Reserve is located on Cash Grove, Pasadena. We found parking was better for playground access on Sierra Nevada Boulevard.
