Skywhales: Every Heart Sings Family Flight | Bordertown | 2 Oct 2021

Skywhales: Every Heart Sings Family Flight

Following three flight events in Canberra, the sculptures are embarking on a tour that will see them float across the skies of Australia as a National Gallery Touring Event throughout 2021 and 2022.

Editor’s Note: EVENT POSTPONED: Sadly due to COVID border restrictions the Skywhales are being postponed to mid-February 2022. Please stay tuned for more details here.

Patricia Piccinini’s Skywhalepapa is a monumental sculpture in the form of a hot-air balloon and a new companion piece to Skywhale – together they form a skywhale family. Centred around the two balloons, the Skywhales: Every heart sings project spans music and song to knitting and baking.

Following their debut flights together in Canberra in February, March and April 2021, Skywhale and Skywhalepapa are travelling nationally throughout 2021 and 2022 as a National Gallery of Australia Touring Event thanks to the Principal Patronage of the Naomi Milgrom Foundation, supported by Visions of Australia.

They were to be at the Walkway Gallery, Bordertown in South Australia on Saturday 2 October 2021, but this has been postponed until February 2022.

Flight dates are subject to change depending on weather conditions – please check venue websites for further information on individual flights.
