Splash Play Plaza | Whyalla

Whyalla’s new Splash Play Plaza is set to be even bigger and better, with Whyalla City Council expanding the water play area following community feedback.

The Whyalla Splash Play Plaza is a major new foreshore attraction designed to provide a fun, inclusive and accessible space for children and families. The project will feature a large splash play area, new play equipment, landscaping, shade and seating, creating a destination for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Following community feedback, the new updated design will feature a larger double-splash bucket, spray tunnel, spray cannon, water-spraying frog and more interactive water play elements, creating an exciting new space for children of all ages to enjoy. Located along Whyalla’s foreshore, the family-friendly splash plaza aims to provide a fun and welcoming destination for locals and visitors.

Construction is now underway, with site clearing and demolition works beginning following initial preparations in September 2026. Parking will remain available during construction, although some spaces near the existing playground will be temporarily reduced.
