SA Sports Voucher Program | 2 Vouchers per Child per year from 1 Jan 2025

Now known as ‘Sports Vouchers Plus’, the program provides an opportunity for school-aged children in South Australia from Reception to Year 9 to receive a discount on sports or dance membership/registration fees and learn to swim programs.  In 2025 it will also include music lessons.

In June 2024, Peter Malinauskas announced the school sports vouchers program will DOUBLE to two $100 vouchers per child, per year from 1 January 2025.  The voucher will also be expanded to include music lessons.

You can claim both vouchers with the same provider – just let them know you wish to use both vouchers to deduct $200 off the total fees for your child.

A record number of 88,749 Sports Vouchers were claimed in 2023, saving South Australian families nearly $9 million.  In 2024, the program was expanded to include Scouts and Girl Guides for the first time, and an even higher total of 96,212 vouchers were claimed with a value of over $9.5 million.

The most popular sports for the program in 2024 (same 5 activities as 2023) were Australian Rules (21.730), Football (soccer) (14550), Netball (11,588), Swimming (10,208) and Gymnastics (7,271). You can view all of the yearly stats here.

Who is eligible for the program?

Available to children living in South Australia in Reception to Year 9.  All South Australian primary school aged children, meaning if the child is attending or is eligible to attend primary school (Reception to Year 6) plus children at high school in Year 7, 8 and 9.

The Sports Vouchers Plus program provides 2 x $100 vouchers per child, per calendar year, starting 1 January 2025.

How does the program work?

There are currently two methods of claiming a voucher. The method depends on the provider’s system. Some providers have online registrations, claiming the voucher has been integrated into their systems.

If the provider does not have the voucher integrated into their online registrations, you’ll need to download the voucher. Once completed, take the voucher to an approved provider to receive a discount on the fees when you register.
