The Flying Bubble Show: Adelaide Fringe 2025 Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   5 Stars for whimsical, dream-like bubbles and soaring performances above the stage

Review by Claire Davill

There’s plenty of bubble shows at the Adelaide Fringe, but Maxwell the Bubbleologist has something that sets him apart – he can fly!

While other bubble shows are often frenetic and fast paced, The Flying Bubble show creates a more dream-like, meditative experience. As maxwell floats through the air and over the audience, the lighting, music and bubbles transport you to the sort of dreams we’ve all had – where you can fly effortlessly. As the bubbles become more numerous, and bigger, Maxwell incorporates fog and an umbrella to create bubbles within bubbles, swirling, dancing bubbles, and opaque bubbles that pop into wisps of smoke.

Bubbles can be finicky, particularly in the hot and dry Adelaide conditions. Bubbles don’t always work they way you want them to, but Maxwell incorporates this into the show, teaching kids that if things don’t work, you don’t give up. Take a deep breath, and try again. He quickly builds rapport with the audience and keeps the kids engaged throughout the whole show. Young kids will be mesmerised, older kids will be thoroughly entertained and adults will be absolutely delighted.

The Flying Bubble Show is performing in The Vault at Fool’s Paradise until 23 March 2025.
