The Hive is a kaleidoscope of art, light and technology, celebrating community connections and change.
For the next month you can explore this glowing installation and immerse yourself in the colour evolution of The Hive.
Designed by amigo and amigo, the interactivity and social story of The Hive is inspired by the bee hive. Bees are considered the model of human society whilst the hive is a centralised meeting place where the bees socialise and contribute to the prosperity of the hive.
Inspired by the Fibonacci Spiral, this mathematical progression is present in all living plants and considered the golden ratio for perfect visual balance.
Move around The Hive to illuminate the light globes in different colours. The more people involved and the closer you get to the globes, the more vibrant the colours and animation will become. Come back to see the colours change and evolve throughout the installation.
The Hive light display will be on every night between 7.30pm and midnight from Tuesday 3 October until Saturday 4 November.
You can find The Hive outside the Allied Health Building, former Royal Adelaide Hospital site on North Terrace in the city (entry via Gate 5 from North Terrace).
