Have the kids been asking to go camping, but it’s just ‘not your thing?’ Or, perhaps you’re looking for a fun family-getaway with a difference?
Then the Retreat at West Beach Parks have the perfect solution for you with their deluxe Safari Tents. Offering a luxury glamping experience that the whole family will enjoy.
The Safari Tents are ideal for a family of up to 5
On our visit, the kids were so excited for this unique staycation. As we pulled up to the Safari Tent, they were ecstatic to see that there was a fancy looking bath located outside on the deck! And of course, started arguing about who was getting in there first (yay!). Thankfully, the bath was big enough for both of them. 🙂
The raised deck was spacious with an impressive veranda, complete with fairy lights and a BBQ. You’re overlooking a large grassed area (great for the kids to run around and play and roll down the hill!).
Beyond this you see the sand dunes, knowing the beach is sitting just behind them – and in walking distance (a huge bonus!).
Tent Interior
The interior of the tent is so spacious and well set-out. We unzipped and pulled back the tent’s canvas doors, and were awed with the set-up inside. Our eyes were immediately drawn to the gorgeous feature four-poster double bed, and then to the cute bunk bed area opposite.
My girls couldn’t believe that the inside of tent could ever look so fantastic or roomy.
There’s also a lounge area (with a fold-out sofa), dining area, kitchenette and bathroom with a large shower.
The floor plan is so well set out and provides a great amount of space, so you’ll never feel like you’re in each other’s pockets.
You still get the feel of camping with the canvas tent – having to roll up the canvas windows, and canvas doors.
The tent walls still move and flap with the wind, still giving off those ‘normal tent’ sounds and vibes.
But this is camping elevated to a whole new level. Deluxe glamping is definitely the right way to describe the West Beach Parks Retreat Safari Tents.
(I’m now wondering if I’ll ever be able to sleep in a normal tent on a blow up mattress again after this experience!)
When is the last time you had a relaxing bath on the deck? If you haven’t tried it – it’s a must!
The bath on the deck was a big highlight for the kids and a stand-out feature of the tent. They loved relaxing in there, taking in the sounds and smells of the beach, while watching the occasional plane fly over on its way in or out of the airport.
Once the kids finally get out of the bath and head to sleep after a big day, and you get a moment to yourself – it’s the perfect place to unwind with a good book and a sneaky glass of wine, or some choccies (or both!).
All you need to do is relax and have a good holiday
Unlike normal camping, when staying in a Safari Tent at the Retreat at West Beach Parks all the hard work is already done for you (and that’s an understatement!)
There’s no spending an hour setting your tent up, no arguing about lost tent pegs, no having to wake up on the hard ground after your air mattress deflated overnight.
Your glamping Safari Tent is all ready for you to just walk in and enjoy, with no stress, no fuss, and you’ll be happy to hear it has air conditioning too.
There’s a double bed, a bunk bed and a sofa bed for the guests.
All linen and bath towels are included. The kitchenette has a sink, small fridge, microwave and all crockery and cutlery is provided.
There’s also the cutest picnic hamper for you to use and there’s a BBQ outside on the deck.
There’s no radio or TV – which the kids freaked out about! But you don’t need a TV when you’re on holiday and it was really nice not having one.
We brought a couple of board games and cards to help with the night time/downtime entertainment. It was great to bond and laugh together over these. So I do recommend bringing some games, cards, reading books and a music player for some background noise.
The Safari Tent also had a game of Finska (fun log throwing game) which the kids enjoyed playing on the large lawns out the front.
I also recommend bringing your own beach towels (there were 2 provided), as well as face washers, shampoo, conditioner and body soaps/wash (these were not provided).
It’s a great family getaway experience, and something a bit different, that everyone will enjoy
The Retreat at West Beach Parks have truly provided a comfortable, yet glamorous, camping experience with their Safari Tents. And, with so much on offer within both the Retreat grounds, as well as the surrounds, your getaway will be filled with as much fun, adventure, shopping and relaxation that you desire.
What is there to do at the Retreat at West Beach Parks and Surrounds?
Within the Retreat –
One thing’s for sure – the kids will never be bored when staying at the Retreat at West Beach Parks! There’s so much for the family to enjoy.
The Retreat section of West Beach Parks is a little more deluxe, when compared to the Big4 West Beach Caravan Park next door. It feels as though it focuses more on the holiday needs of adults, as well as the kids.
There’s a large beautiful pool (heated to a balmy 26 degrees) with two super fun water slides at one end. Around the pool there’s sun loungers and cute cabanas, which were perfect for some relaxation while the kids had an absolute blast on the slides.
In the pool area you’ll also find a grassed section, movie screen and amphitheater for the outdoor cinema.
Not far from the pool, there’s a shaded jumping pillow, small basketball court, volleyball area and playground.
The Retreat also has a gym, tennis court, go kart hire and direct access to the beach.
We loved heading to the beach to unwind and watch the sunset after dinner.
Surrounding the Retreat –
The Retreat at West Beach Parks is in the perfect location for a family getaway, really spoiling you for choice.
In the area there’s West Beach Mini Golf, West Beach Parks public golf course, West Beach Adventure (the largest aerial adventure course in Australia), a skate park and the beach.
A short drive from the Retreat you’ll find Harbor Town (factory outlets), and also popular Glenelg and the Marina Pier.
Glenelg offers so much for families with a great range of entertainment, the Glenelg Foreshore, food and shopping (Mix 102.3 Giant Wheel pictured below). You can also jump on a tram in Glenelg and head to the Adelaide CBD for a look. The CBD is an approx. 10km drive from the Retreat.
