The newly renovated Thurles Street Reserve in St Marys boasts new play equipment and a ninja-style course perfect to test abilities

Review by Adaire Prosser

Tucked away in the quiet street of St Mary’s is newly installed playground equipment on Thurles Street Reserve, making it a great place to take the kids to test their abilities. The equipment is spread out over the reserve, making the play space feel open and extensive. The main play area includes three different sized slides with a range of climbing access including ladders, ropes and climbing walls. There is a little corner store opening underneath perfect for playing shop.

The equipment is thoughtfully designed with shading on top and enclosed platforms for safety. The slides are also made of durable plastic which won’t overheat on warmer days. There is also a seesaw, spinning turnstile and flying fox in this main area. Our little reviewers had a lot of fun on the seesaw together and playing shop.

Across the reserve, there is a swing set with a toddler seat and net swing so all ages can enjoy. You will also find a ninja-style obstacle course that is perfect for testing the older kids abilities.

While there are no toilet facilities on the reserve, there is a shaded barbeque area, a water refill station, new seating for watching the kids play and bins. There is also a basketball hoop and half court, as well as plenty of flat grassed area.

Things to Consider:

  • There is limited shade on this reserve, so take hats and sunscreen on sunny days
  • While the play equipment has lots of climbing options, these may be difficult for young climbers to navigate so assistance may be needed.

Location:

The playground is located on Thurles Street Reserve in St Marys. There is street parking surrounding the reserve.
