Step into a prehistoric world frozen in time!
In this breathtaking new adventure, the chill of the Ice Age comes alive in a dazzling fusion of puppetry, light, sound, and wonder. Universal Kingdom: Ice Age, the next instalment of Adelaide Zoo’s prehistoric adventure transports you to a time when colossal creatures ruled an icy world.
This after-dark adventure transforms the zoo into a glowing prehistoric world, combining magical light installations, spectacular puppetry, soundscapes, and interactive elements designed to captivate kids and adults alike.
Immersive Installations
Wander through glowing glacial landscapes and discover majestic Woolly Mammoths, ground-trembling Dinosaurs, stealthy Sabre-Toothed Tigers and soaring Thunderbirds, while unearthing ancient secrets in an Interactive Kids’ Zone.
With spectacular puppetry and magical light installations by acclaimed creative studios Erth Visual & Physical Inc, illuminart, and After Dark Theatre, the Ice Age era is vividly brought to life before your eyes.
Tips for visiting Universal Kingdom: Ice Age with Kids
- Dress warmly – Adelaide winter nights can get cold
- Book ahead – popular Illuminate Adelaide events can sell out
- Go earlier in the evening if you have younger children
- Allow plenty of time to explore without rushing
- Take a pram if needed – the trail is designed to be accessible

Zoos SA is committed to providing a welcoming and accessible environment.
Relaxed session includes; a twilight start time, reduced capacity, lowered volume on installations and reduced human noises. Visitors attending the Relaxed sessions are welcome to stay and explore for the evening but should be aware that the 6.30pm sessions will be at standard event capacity.
