Weekend Workshops | Our Port | May & June 2014

Would you like to learn new skills, use your creativity and have some fun in the process?  Come along to free workshops happening in Our Port during May and June.  The workshops cover a variety of media, including bead stranding, children’s art, mixed media, henna tattooing and much more.

The workshops will be held at 27 North Parade and are being supported by Renewal SA.

Saturday 3 May 2014  |  10.30 am – ‘Bead Stranding Workshop’

Design and create your very own stranded bracelet made from a beautiful selection of quality gemstone and Czech Glass beads and finished with a Sterling silver clasp with expert jewellery maker Lisa. (Additional materials charged separately.)

Sunday 4 May 2014  |  2 – 4pm – ‘Children’s Art Workshops’

Create your very own artwork on canvas – all paints, canvas, brushes, tutoring supplied. Just bring a painting ‘smock’ to cover your clothes.

Saturday 10 May 2014  |  2 – 4pm – ‘Think Outside the Square’

Let go of your inhibitions and let the making process take over the artwork you create! All materials supplied – just bring along a painting ‘smock’.

Saturday 17 May 2014  |  10 – 4pm – ‘Alternative Processes’ (Acrylic)

Acrylic polymers can be manipulated in an astounding number of ways. Join artist Uta Mooney to learn how to use gels and mediums to create artworks by simply experimenting! All you need to bring is a painting ‘smock’. This workshop suits all age groups over 16 yrs. Materials cost: $20 for two days or $15 for one day.

Saturday 24 May 2014  |  2 – 4pm – ‘Children’s Art Workshops’

Create your very own artwork on canvas – all paints, canvas, brushes, tutoring supplied. Just bring a painting ‘smock’ to cover your clothes and let’s get painting! Suitable for ages 7 years and up.

Sunday 25 May 2014  |  1 – 3.30 pm – ‘Port Platters’

Paint your very own Port Platter! Learn the art of design and painting on ceramics with local artist, ceramicist and glassmaker Kaz. Kaz will take the platters with her at the end of the session to fire for you and will arrange a time for you to collect your unique creations. (A firing fee of $10 per platter will apply).

Saturday 31 May 2014  |  2 – 4.30pm – ‘Learn the art of Henna Painting’

Learn about the beautiful body art tradition of Henna. This workshop will explore the history and significance of henna body painting. (Please note that henna painting may not be suitable for those with sensitive skin or skin allergies).

Sunday 8 June 2014 | 1 – 3.30 pm – ‘Learn how to paint Abstracts’

Learn how to choose colours, paint with acrylics and use mediums for special effects. Create a large painting to take home with you at the end of the session! All materials supplied – just bring along a painting ‘smock’.

Sunday 15 June 2014  |  10 – 3pm – ‘A Taste Of Tarot’

Ever wanted to learn more about Tarot? Elizabeth will teach you using a step by step approach. An optional Tarot kit is available for purchase for $35.

Saturday 21 June 2014  |  2 – 4pm – ‘Introduction to Figurative Oil Painting’

Learn how to create an individual artwork in oils with renowned Adelaide artist Ruby Chew. Please bring along: 2-3 large clear or white plastic lids (ice cream lids to use as pallets), any paint brushes you may already have, HB pencil, Ruler, Eraser, old rags and small glass jar.
