Write the World Speechwriting Competition
‘hub’ is a safe, online space for young South Australians to visit, hang out, keep up to date, have their say and connect. This October, hub is featuring a global speechwriting competition brought to you by Write the World.
โThe eyes of all future generations are upon you,โ Greta Thunburg told world leaders at the UN Climate Summit on 23 September 2019. โAnd if you choose to fail us, I say โ we will never forgive you.โ
Powerful words like these are burned into our collective memory, catalysing social change, inspiring movements and sparking courage. Words that are written to be spoken are charged with power, crafted to come alive when delivered to an audience.
Enter before Tuesday 20 October and you could win one of two monetary prizes. If youโre between the ages of 13 and 18 years, enter by writing and/or performing your own world-changing speech and have it judged by Sarah Hurwitz, former head speechwriter to former US President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama.
- Open to young people aged 13 โ 18 years.
- Itโs free to take part and join the Write the World global community.
- There will be monetary prizes for best spoken word delivery and for the best written speech. There are also peer review prizes.
- You can submit entries for expert review by 13 October.
- Final entries are due by 20 October.
