Still the place to party! Tourrific Prospect 2017 is coming!
On Tuesday 17 January, Prospect Road is once again the place to be for live music and food lovers, artists, cultural celebrations and cycling enthusiasts, as the City of Prospect presents its sixth annual Tourrific Prospect street party from 6pm to 11pm.
One of Adelaide’s most enduring, entertaining and family-friendly events, Tourrific Prospect is a celebration showcasing the best of the City of Prospect’s vibrant life. In a one-of-a-kind, free fiesta of music, dance, food and entertainment, the main road is set to be jam-packed with celebrations of the community’s creative and cultural diversity. Featuring local businesses, shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as the ever-popular Loopy Kids Ride and Kid Zone, the Smart City Expo, and more.
The City of Prospect is amping up celebrations this year, giving a taste of favourite experiences, as well as plenty of new (and very exciting) ones. Under the theme ‘Our Colourful Community’, guests are set to visit the area as they light up the night in a vibrant array of Aboriginal, African and Indian traditional and contemporary performances.
Food at Tourrific Prospect
What’s a street party without food and drinks to help you refuel among the festivities? That’s why Tourrific Prospect will be offering a plethora of outlets catering to a range of tastes, price ranges and appetites. Enjoy your meal in one of the many atmospheric allocated seated areas, or find a place at the ‘long table’ and eat with someone new.
If you’re looking for a little retail therapy, local businesses will be trading late into the evening alongside a variety of pop-up stalls and tents. Be sure to bring your pocket money with you.
Entertainment at Tourrific Prospect
Street artists and buskers will ensure there’s never a dull moment along the streets with live entertainment at three main stages – Fenwicks (Olive Street), Residence Building Group (Kintore Avenue) and Club 5082 – you’ll have your toes tapping and hips swingin’.
Smart City Expo
At the Smart City Expo, see how technology is transforming lives and how business, Council and the education sectors work together to deliver on innovation. Come along and be inspired by what the future holds for the connected consumer, and what the impact of this will be in areas such as healthcare, education, transport, energy, service delivery and more.
For the kids:
An improved and energising Kid Zone in Barker Gardens (outside Coles) will also be available to provide adventures like no other for your kids. The early part of the evening will see the ‘Loopy Kids Ride’ take place on Prospect Road, after which the area will be covered with Astro Turf and turned into a ‘Life Be in In It’ activity zone.
Meanwhile in Barker Gardens, Daddy Long Legs will act as MC and resident clown, magician, trickster, prankster, puppeteer and juggler. There will also be Preston’s Historic Punch & Judy Show, balloonists and face painters.
For families looking to come along, Loopy Kids is back! Sponsored by Blackfriars Priory School, children aged 4 to 13 are being encouraged to hit the road on the track and ride like a pro!
The Tourrific Prospect event is set to be an absolute feast of colour, arts, sounds, cultures and entertainment in 2017. So pop it in your diary and prepare to be wowed!
