Fairytale Trail with A Princess at Carrick Hill, Review

By Jo Parkinson

When you wish upon a star, your dreams really do come true…  just spend a day with Once Upon a Princess!

We were lucky enough to go and experience the pure magic at the latest event hosted by the wonderful team at Once Upon a Princess; The Fairytale Trail with a Princess, held on the grounds of Carrick Hill.

There were two sessions on the day, morning and afternoon. The fun began as soon as we entered the driveway, with a Prince welcoming guests as they arrived in their cars. Once on the grounds, we made our way up to the ‘castle’ where we waited for our turn to enter the Fairytale Trail. It was great to see so many of the little guests dressed up as their favourite Princess or Prince, and each one received a gift bag while waiting in line.

Princesses

The Princesses were positioned along Carrick Hill’s Story Book Trail, each one having their own area suited to their theme. Guests moved through the sections in a line, so that everyone had their own special moment with each Princess. Little styling details throughout such as chandeliers, red carpet and flower arches made the place feel extra special.

The first princess we met was Dancing Princess, and guests had the opportunity to sit and pose at a tea party with her. Next up was Sleeping Beauty, then the Little Mermaid who was standing next to a little lake. We liked the way that the Princesses were far enough apart and placed around corners, adding to the surprise of who was coming next. Also, each Princess had a special gift for everyone, so by the end of the trail, we had a lovely little collection of items.

Snow White’s little house was a highlight, and the way the Island Princess spoke so softly and genuinely to each little guest was just beautiful. We also met Arabian Princess, Rapunzel, Cinderella and the Snow Sisters. Each Princess was so welcoming and friendly. It didn’t feel rushed, and they gave everyone time to have a quick chat and pose for a photo. Watching the joy on the children’s faces as they met each Princess was heart-melting!

A couple of the Princesses had lines that were quite long, so we did have to wait for a while to see them. However, I noticed that everyone waited very patiently, which was impressive for little Princesses and Princes! It helped that we were outside, and everyone could admire each other’s costumes while they waited.

Food and Activities

At the end of the trail, guests were free to set up a picnic rug on the grass and use the vouchers from the gift bag to enjoy a sausage sizzle, cinnamon donut, ice-cream, slushie and tea or coffee.

There were also vouchers for activities such as meeting and posing on the ‘unicorns’, patting the animals at the petting zoo and diving into the ball pit. Princesses roamed around the lawn, interacting with guests as they sat and relaxed. The grounds at Carrick Hill were perfect for the occasion, with the castle-looking house and stunning gardens as a backdrop.

Once Upon a Princess events are a must do for anyone who loves Princesses. The quality of the day was outstanding, and we had so much fun. I’m sure that every little person there will never forget the day they met the Princesses!
