The Spookhouse, Halloween Lock-in Event at The Beachouse, Glenelg
Review By Jo Parkinson
Skip the tricks and head straight for a treat at The Spookhouse!
The Beachouse has been transformed into a haunted house for Halloween! We dressed up and checked out this special annual event in Glenelg. It’s well worth a visit if you want to add some extra fun to your Halloween.
There are heaps of spooky decorations to get everyone into the spirit of the night. Skeletons hang from the ceiling and cauldrons, spiders and pumpkins are everywhere. A couple of awesome backdrops are available for photo opportunities. It is a family event, so everything used was appropriate and wasn’t too scary for young children.
On arrival, you receive cards for unlimited games (excluding ticket and prize games), paper bags to collect lollies, and food and drink vouchers for the adults.
All the regular fun activities are included in the ticket price, such as bumper boats, dodgem cars, carousel, mini golf, soft play area, train, water slide and lots of arcade games. Keep in mind that some rides and activities have height restrictions, so adults may need to accompany children. The kids loved that lollies were handed out by staff members after each ride, for a special Halloween treat!
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the café where the adults can redeem the food and drink vouchers. Included in each voucher is one beer, wine or soft drink of your choice and an Asian tasting plate. We shared ours with the kids, but if you are super hungry there is also lots of other yummy food and drink available to order.
A Candy Store is set up in a different area as well, selling a range of sweet treats and small toys.
The Spookhouse event started at 5:30pm, although you can arrive anytime between then and 6:30pm. It is a lock-in, meaning everyone who enters must have a ticket. There are several ticket types available; 1.5 hour, 2 hour, or Family pass which includes 4x 2 hour tickets. If you really want to spoil yourselves, grab the Ultimate VIP 2.5 hour pass which includes a spooky fidget pack.
All times begin on first tap of your game card. We had a Family Pass and found it was just the right amount of time to do all the activities we wanted, as well as having time to eat without feeling rushed.
