Flying Fish Café | Port Elliot | Review

A family friendly coastal café in Port Elliot boasting picturesque views of Horseshoe Bay.

Review by Adaire Prosser

The Flying Fish Cafe in Port Elliot is a long time family favourite on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Boasting amazing beach views and overlooking the playground, it is easy to see why it is enjoyed by so many. It offers a range of dining options, including breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner on select days. There is the option of dining in or takeaway from the kiosk that can be enjoyed on a beachside table or down on the beach or grassed areas.

We enjoyed a dine in brunch. Our four year old reviewer had his first taste of waffles from the kids menu, while his parents enjoyed a pork belly benedict and a smashed avocado. Our 18 month old reviewer got to sample from everybody’s plates.

With a corner table, we had views of beautiful Horseshoe Bay, and the playground. This meant that the kids could play while awaiting meals to be served. We didn’t have to wait long though, even on a busy Sunday morning the service was impeccable.

As you can see from the pictures, the food was amazing and everyone enjoyed their brunch. We have previously enjoyed takeaway fish and chips from the café and there is a range of hot or cold drinks, other takeaway options and ice cream to compliment a beach trip. The Flying Fish Café is planning some big renovations in the near future and we can’t wait to come back and see.
