Belair National Park Adventure Playground Upgrade | Review

The Adventure Playground at Belair National Park has had an upgrade to the play equipment, making it the perfect place to visit, or revisit, if you haven’t been for a while!

Review by Adaire Prosser

Belair National Park is a favourite for us, and we were excited to test the new playground that was upgraded in 2025. Replacing the dated metal play equipment, the new playground has been designed with nature and accessibility in mind.

There is a wide, winding path up to the play equipment, and ramps to access the platforms and slides making it more accessible for different abilities. There is also an in-ground trampoline and carousel that are easily accessible. The bridges between platforms leading to the slides are nice and wide with a gentle incline.

There is a twin slide and a tube slide and plenty of climbing options including a ladder, rope climbing wall, rock climbing wall and a rope pyramid.

There is also a swing set with a net swing, monkey bars, an emu rocker, and various stepping stones and balancing beams.

In addition to all the play equipment for gross motor skills, there are interactive pieces including an animal maze, binoculars, a shop-style window, xylophone and native animals to spot across the play space.

The play area is set over a large space, cohesive with the wide open feel of the park. You will still find a lot of the old favourites here, included the pipe tunnels and wooden fort.

Things to Consider:

  • There is an entry fee for vehicles to drive into Belair National Park. As of January 2026, the fee is $13.90 per car or $11.20 for concession card holders. If you want to avoid the fee, you can park in a carpark just inside the entrance gate and walk or ride to the playground – about one kilometre. Consider exploring other parts of the park and make a day of it to get your money’s worth.
  • The playground is not fenced but is some distance from the carpark and the road.
  • The kiosk is generally open on weekends and school holidays from 10:30am-3:30pm, but this can change depending on the weather.
  • There are no bins in the whole park, so you will need to take your rubbish with you.

For more information about entry fees, tennis court hire or venue hire see the National Parks SA website.
