Playford Alive Town Park Play Spaces provide a central facility for families with accessible features, plenty for kids of all ages, and a free water play area.

Town Park is a central gathering place in the heart of Playford Alive, located close to shops, community facilities and educational services. With plenty of space for families and friends to meet, relax and spend time together, the park provides a welcoming place for people of all ages and backgrounds to connect and enjoy the community.

There’s plenty here for kids of all ages, and lots of accessible features as well. The playground equipment is well shaded, and there’s lots of seating for adults and for picnics.

The major components of the park include two nature inspired play spaces, a multi-use skate park, water play, tiered lawns for sports and community events, multiple smaller lawns and contemplative gardens for more quiet, family friendly activity. A big drawcard is the excellent flying fox, with a good ramp for launching, before you fly through the shady trees.

Behind the flying fox is a large, multi directional basket swing, and the shaded, free water play area that operates during daylight savings.

The water play area also extends further with a water trough, water wheel, multiple channels and dam gates. There are stepping stones across the channels, and this area is one of the better water play areas we’ve seen – it kept our 10 year old reviewer occupied for ages!

A large climbing net sits between the water play area and the main play equipment. 

The main equipment includes a long tube slide, wide open slide, climbing stones, nets and walls, and a raised platform.

The wide open slide also doubles as a warped wall for running up, and the platform at the top can be reached via an accessible pathway from the back.

For smaller kids, there’s a nearby small fort with a sandpit, sand play equipment, a small slide and small tunnels to crawl through.

There’s a range of accessible equipment here too, including a merry go round, supportive swing, drums and xylophones.

Across the expansive lawned areas, there is a basketball half court, with hexagon trails to follow. There’s also an excellent skate park here, including a skate bowl and a flatter area with rails and platforms.

There are toilets located nearby at the back of the Stretton Centre building, and these are fully accessible with change facilities. There are multiple picnic shelters, barbeques, drinking fountains and bike racks throughout the park. There’s an off-street carpark via Peachey Road and lots of parallel parks alongside Myrtle Avenue.

Things to consider:

• The playground and park are not fenced. The roads surrounding the park are quiet and low-speed, but you will still need to keep an eye on little ones.
• Most of the playground equipment is well shaded, but the climbing net and skate park are in full sun.

Coffee and food options nearby:

• The park is centrally located within the Playford Alive precinct, with a shopping centre opposite the park. This shopping centre includes a supermarket, takeaway shops, a bakery and cafes.
