A Nourished Week – Support Struggling Mothers
Chefs on Wheels is launching its new social enterprise program, A Nourished Week in collaboration with fellow South Australian organisation The Village Co, which supports disadvantaged new mums across the state.
Chefs on Wheels has teamed up with The Village Co. to provide struggling mothers and their families with a week’s worth of chef-made frozen meals delivered to their door at the most crucial time of their parenting journey; when they bring their baby home from hospital.
The launch is set to provide over seven hundred delicious Chefs on Wheels meals and side dishes to more than sixty vulnerable new mothers and their families in South Australia in the first month. This figure is expected to reach over one hundred families per month going forward, with the support of community and corporate donations.
A Nourished Week will enable The Village Co to supply a meal voucher valued at over $300 directly to vulnerable mothers after giving birth to their baby, through its existing bag gifting program. The voucher will allow a family to order seven days’ worth of meals directly from Chefs on Wheels online, which will then be delivered to their door.
They’re aiming to gift 60 families with a week of ready to eat meals every month. Here is what impact that would make:
- 60 families nourished and fed
- 60 families not having to cook or buy meals for a week
- 60 mothers are able to spend quality time with their newborn and families, establishing breastfeeding and recovering from childbirth.
- 60 families experiencing generosity and kindness unlike ever before
- 60 families knowing they are being thought of, cared about and valued as a worthy member of the community
How you can help:
Community and corporate partner funding is essential for this program, and every dollar donated to A Nourished Week will directly feed families.
Tax deductable corporate donation packages are now available, and the community are also invited to donate directly. Sponsorship for one family meal voucher starts at $180, with distribution to families to commence from 1 July.
The organisation is aiming to raise enough funds by 30 June 2022 to support its initial roll out to 60 new Mums in July.
