The Barossa Council in collaboration with Angaston Community and Business Alliance Inc. have been selected to host the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour in Angaston on 11 October 2015.
Each year major Melbourne Cup sponsor, Emirates tour the Melbourne Cup trophy throughout Australia, stopping off at select locations for functions and community events. Engaging with the trophy provides people with an opportunity to connect with the race that stops a nation in a tangible way – connecting to this significant piece of Australian sporting history.
As part of the stopover in Angaston, there will be a Community Fun Day involving the whole main street including the Angaston Memorial Reserve and Village Green. All donations taken on the day will be donated to Riding for the Disabled.
Current events being considered for the day are:
- Have your photo taken with the Emirates Melbourne Cup
- Horse racing personalities and dignitaries
- Racing and Horse History Displays
- Decorated Shop Fronts
- Photo booth
- Pony Rides
- Sideshows (horse themed)
- Craft activities
- Competitions
- Shop Specials
- Entertainment
- Bus Tours to Studs
