Christies Beach Hotel | Family Friendly Dining | Review

Sometimes it can be hard to take the family out for lunch or dinner, especially when kids complain that they are bored or don’t want to sit still! We have found the solution for a family friendly mealtime, at the fabulous Christies Beach Hotel.

Review By Jo Parkinson

Situated towards the end of Gulfview Road at Christies Beach, this hotel has so much more to offer than just food. A massive outdoor playground, movie theatre, kids’ activity packs and a pretty view of the ocean makes it a great place to have an enjoyable time with the family or a large group.

Hotel Facilities

We love the large car park out the front, its one less thing to worry about when you don’t have to drive around searching for a place to unload the family! Cute outdoor tables with umbrellas and party lights are visible from the entrance and provide the perfect place to sit back, relax and have some drinks while you watch the kids play on the huge outdoor playground.

The playground is suitable for kids of most ages, with slides and lots of places to climb. There is also a grassed area right beside it where kids can run around if they need to burn some energy. A glass fence provides a barrier between the playground and car park, however adult supervision is recommended. The bar can also be easily accessed from the outdoor area as well.

If the weather is not great, there is plenty of seating in the spacious bistro dining area inside. Our kids ran straight to the movie theatre, where they can watch a movie whilst waiting for their food to arrive.

The hotel has gone through some fabulous renovations recently, and the front bar and gaming area are looking great if you are after a get together without the kids, or after something a bit more casual.

Food

The Bistro has all the usual pub style favourites including schnitzels, burgers, pizza, steak, seafood and much more. Bookings are recommended, as the hotel is pretty popular so it can get busy at times.

The kid’s menu has a choice of spaghetti, fish and chips, chicken schnitzel, nuggets or Hawaiian pizza. These great value meals are all $14 (as at April 2024), and include a drink, ice cream and activity pack. The kids will love picking a flavour (or two!) when serving up their ice cream. We loved our yummy parmi, and the kids devoured their fish and chips. There is a good range of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available.

School Holidays

During the school holidays, the Christies Beach Hotel hosts a variety of fun activities for the kids. Check out their website or Facebook page to keep up to date with what’s on and to make bookings. Some of the activities coming up include a Mermaid Party, Petting Zoo and even Messy Play Sand Art, which will be held on Tuesday mornings in May for $10. Click here to find out more.

Messy Play Playgroup

The hotel also hosts a monthly play group. Click here to find out more.

The Christies Beach Hotel is a favourite with our family, and we highly recommend checking it out for yourself!
