The City of Adelaide invites you to celebrate Christmas in the city! Enjoy an array of city-wide events, festive markets, magical decorations, and captivating live performances, all designed to fill your heart with the joy of the season.

Adelaideโ€™s Christmas Tree Lighting event โ€“ Saturday 9 November in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga

Kick off the festive season in sparkling style! Join a free community celebration in the heart of the city for the magical lighting of the giant Christmas tree around 8:45 pm. Hosted by Cosi, the evening will feature performances by headline act Charmaine Jones and Gospo, building excitement before the Lord Mayor and a local primary school student officially light up the tree. Grab a delicious bite from the food trucks and bring a picnic blanket to settle in and enjoy all the festive flavours and fun.

The Santa Course

Step into the holiday spirit with The Santa Course in the City of Adelaide! From North Terrace to Rundle Mall, explore the city on a festive adventure filled with ringing bells, jolly challenges, and 10 giant Santas waiting to be discovered. Help Santa complete his Christmas checklist by finding all ten Santasโ€”and you could win a special prize.

Christmas Decorations in the City

Experience the magic of Christmas across the city, with dazzling lights, vibrant decorations, and all your favourite festive characters! Wander through the city and North Adelaide to find an enchanting display of Christmas cheer, from sparkling baubles and wreaths to life-sized gift boxes and beyond. Be sure to watch for new festive touches appearing throughout the season.

Christmas Card Cubes

Celebrate the season with festive community Christmas Card Cubes! Gather family and friends for a joyful photo against our cheerful backdrops and spread the holiday spirit with everyone.

Adelady Christmas Village

The Adelady Christmas Village is the place to be for festive fun, local shopping, a free kidsโ€™ zone, Father Christmas, live music, food trucks, 80 market stalls, a giant bar for the adults and festive giveaways!

Music at the Tree

Celebrate the countdown to Christmas with Music at the Tree at Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga. From December 19-24, enjoy a week of live music by talented local musicians each night, before the nightly lighting of the iconic giant Christmas Tree at 8:30 pm. Visit the heart of Adelaide for performances that bring the true spirit of the season to life.
