LIV Golf is back at Grange for 2025 and is full of family-friendly activities and entertainment.
Review by Adaire Prosser & Carla Caruso
Back at the Grange Golf Club from 14 to 16 February, LIV Golf has it all for golf lovers with daytime entertainment, food and drink options, and golf merchandise. It caters for the whole family with attractions including a Kids Kingdom and the new Family Fairway. Kids can enter LIV Golf for free (one child per one adult ticket) and both the family-friendly hubs are filled with free activities.
If you are heading to LIV Golf with the family, here are some things to do & handy tips:
Getting there
There are a few options to get to the Grange Golf Club, including bus, train, taxi, and ride share. We opted for the Park ‘n’ Ride option and used the car park at the Adelaide 36ers Arena at Findon, which had been designated for use for the event.
There were plenty of parks on the Friday and Saturday, and there were buses running every 15 to 30 minutes, so we didn’t have to wait long. We were also able to take a collapsible stroller with lots of room. We used this option when leaving too, and although we left at a fairly busy time, we got on a bus within five minutes of leaving the gates.
At the event
Checking into the event was straightforward. There were no lines on the Friday and Saturday afternoon and we checked our QR codes and received wristbands. Our day bag was checked — we were allowed to bring in snacks and plastic reusable drink bottles. Metal drink bottles are not permitted, however.
From Entrance D from the Park ‘n’ Ride, it is a bit of a walk across the golf course to the main areas and family-friendly section. Most of the walk was easygoing, but there were patches of soft sand between some of the holes which made it difficult with the pram.
Once at the main sections, it was easier for the pram and there was plenty of room for prams as well.
It is also advisable, at the event, to wear sneakers (and not pristine ones), rather than sandals, due to the dusty patches you have to walk through. (A hat and sunnies are good too for when it’s windy and kicking up dust, or raining.) Wacky golf shirts or costumes are optional!
Expect to get your step count up and to cross many fairways — it’s a big course. And have a map handy.
Kids Kingdom — FREE WITH ENTRY
On the Friday afternoon, we made our way straight to Kids Kingdom in the Family Fun Zone. It is located near food and drink vendors, shaded seating areas, bins and toilets so has been positioned well.
The Kids Kingdom contains activities and entertainment for almost every age. We were so pleased to see that all the activities in the kids’ zone are included, free with entry.
There is a bubble station with wands to make bubbles of all shapes and sizes. They were long-lasting and the kids loved the bubbles flying all over the area. There is also a nature play station for open-ended play.
For the active kids, there is an inflatable slide, rock climbing wall, and mini putt and driving net to practice.
There is an indoor sensory station set-up, which is a quiet area with headphones and calming activities. There is also an indoor, science-inspired play area with sensory play tables, chalk boards, marble runs, and STEM-inspired demonstrations. In this area, you’ll find a Nintendo Switch gaming station and some drawing tables too.
Across the Kids Kingdom, helpful staff are on hand to assist with activities. There was so much to keep the little ones entertained here that we had to bribe them away with a sweet treat when it was time to go!
Family Fairway
The new dedicated Family Fairway was a bit of a trek to get to from Entrance D, being at the sixth hole. But it was also very child-friendly, including for the older kids.
The Fairway has a kids’ DJ spinning tunes, beanbags to relax on, other live entertainment, food trucks, mini golf — and a RangeGoat GC Petting Zoo, if you fancy a pic with a cute baby goat!
Amenities
Bathroom facilities are located in many areas around the event site and there is a bathroom section near the Kids Kingdom for convenience. For the littlies, we were pleased to see a number of family rooms that had areas for feeding and changing, and amenities for preparing bottles or warming food.
There are sunscreen stations across the event where you can reapply sun protection and are provided with samples to take with you.
Water refill stations are also located across the course to fill up reusable water bottles.
Food and drink — including at the Fan Village
There are so many food and drink options located across the golf course. The largest variety we found was at the Fan Village, which also had a large amount of seating located in the middle. There were plenty of tents and umbrellas over the seating for shade too.
If you’re looking to relax for a while, the Village has live music and entertainment, as well (including sports simulator games) — a great way to take a break from the action.
Meanwhile, when you’re spectating the golfing action, there are vendors located at some of the fairways, so you’re never far from something to eat or drink.
Your kids will be little ‘Happy Gilmores’, with all that’s on offer at LIV Golf!
