Moon Lanterns | OzAsia Festival | Adelaide | 9 Oct – 1 Nov 2026
The Moon Lanterns are a much-loved highlight of the annual OzAsia Festival, bringing colour, light and free family-friendly fun. Get up close to amazing giant lanterns that are beautiful to explore by day and truly spectacular at night.
This year, families can see more than a dozen giant lanterns across the Lucky Dumpling Market and along a section of the Karrawirra Parri/River Torrens for the duration of OzAsia Festival – 9 October to 1 November 2026.
OzAsia Festival’s moon lanterns celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival traditions and stories from across Asia and Australia.
A highlight this year is Kurdany Tangku, created by South Australian artist Jaydenlee Tong and symbolising Rainbow Serpent Dreaming.
Take a stroll to the Riverbank Footbridge to see the spectacular 40-metre Hong Kong Dragon by Vivian Ho, gazing over the festival.
Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for celebrating the moon, its roundness symbolising reunion and gratitude. Lanterns have long accompanied moon-gazing, carrying wishes for luck, light and togetherness. So gather your family and friends and be part of an unforgettable OzAsia Festival experience.
