Moon Lanterns | OzAsia Festival | Adelaide | 9 Oct – 1 Nov 2026

The Moon Lanterns are a much-loved highlight of the annual OzAsia Festival, bringing colour, light and free family-friendly fun.  Get up close to amazing giant lanterns that are beautiful to explore by day and truly spectacular at night.

Lighting up Lucky Dumpling Market in 2026, OzAsia Festival’s moon lanterns celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival traditions and stories from across Asia and Australia.  This year families can experience more than a dozen giant lanterns popping up across the open-air food market along the banks of the Karrawirra Parri/River Torrens.

A highlight again this year will be Kurdany Tangku – created by South Australian artist Jaydenlee Tong and symbolising Rainbow Serpent Dreaming. Take a stroll to the Riverbank Footbridge to see the spectacular 40-metre Hong Kong Dragon by Vivian Ho, gazing over the festival.

Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for celebrating the moon, its roundness symbolising reunion and gratitude. Lanterns have long accompanied moon-gazing, carrying wishes for luck, light and togetherness. So gather your family and friends and be part of an unforgettable OzAsia Festival experience.
