Slowdown at Norwood Oval

The Slowdown will be back in 2017 but with a new name, 2 new teams and at a new venue!

The Slowdown match will be held again this year supporting Little Heroes Foundation. West End have held the naming rights since 2000, and through a new company direction, are allowing the opportunity for a new sponsor to take over as the naming rights sponsor for 2017 and beyond.

Little Heroes Foundation would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank West End for all of their support over the years and helping make this event an icon on the SA sporting calendar.

The Crows and the Power past players have played off in 14 of the games but 2 new teams will play off in 2017. That concept will be announced soon, however Little Heroes Foundation is excited to confirm today that in 2017, the game will be played at a brand new venue. Slowdowns have been played at Adelaide Oval, old and new, Alberton Oval, AAMI Stadium and Glenelg Oval over the years, but in 2017 Norwood Oval will host the event for the very first time.

However, one thing that won’t change this year is the date, with Father’s Day, Sunday September 3 locked in for Slowdown XVII, following the success of last year’s game.

Chairman Chris McDermott says the venue will be perfect for the game and great for the fans.

“It is a ground that has a great success of drawing big crowds. This year’s Slowdown will be a great opportunity for kids to bring their dad and mum along to the footy for a fun day out with the family.”

A curtain raiser is also on the cards along with regular kids activities and pre-match entertainment!

Last Year’s Teams:

Slowdown in 2016 saw the SA Legends V Indigenous All Stars, led by Tony Modra and Andrew McLeod respectively.
