St Morris Reserve Upgrade | St Morris | Review

St Morris Reserve Upgrade – a redevelopment that ticks all the boxes, fully fenced, shaded, toilets, and equipment for big and little kids.
Review by Claire Davill
St Morris Reserve has been completely redeveloped and is now open. The new playground is fantastically designed, and the stormwater drainage garden provides fun stepping stones, surrounded by huge open areas of lawn.
The fully fenced playground includes two large pieces of equipment. One is suited for smaller children, and one is suited for larger children.
The smaller equipment includes an inclined climbing wall with a rope, twisty slide, steps, balance beam bridge and monkey bars. There’s also a small play shop bench underneath.

The larger equipment includes a twisty tunnel slide, connecting net bridge, climbing net, climbing wall, step pole and multiple platforms in each tower.

We particularly like that the towers are easily climbable by adults, which means you can climb up and supervise hesitant children. No squeezing through tight spaces!
There’s also a connect-4 game board on the larger equipment.

The playground area also includes a spinning climbing net and swings (including one toddler swing). All of the equipment is accessible via rubber soft fall, with wood chips underneath the equipment.

There are stepping stones and logs around the edge of the playground area, and a circular bench in the centre, that will eventually be shaded by an oak tree. There are lots of fun shaped benches to climb over and balance on as well.

There are benches and one picnic table within the fenced area, and shade sails, although they don’t cover all the equipment.

Outside of the fenced area, there is a toilet block, drinking fountain, undercover picnic table and barbeque. There’s also a half court basketball ring with a wall.

The rest of the reserve consists of open lawn, bordered by a paved walking/riding path, and a stormwater garden with two sets of stepping stones crossing the basin.

Things to Consider:
- The playground is fully fenced with two gates with child-proof latches, however the rest of the reserve is unfenced.
- The shade sails do not cover all of the equipment, so you will still need hats and sunscreen, and some of the equipment will get hot in sunny weather.
- There is no off-street parking at the reserve, and you will need to park on the side of Seventh Avenue or Green Street.
Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:
Doppio Cafe is located further along Seventh Avenue, on the corner of Glynburn Road.
Cheeky Grin Coffee is just 150m down the road on Gage Street.
Location:
Seventh Avenue or Green Street, St Morris.
