Unity Park Playground | Campbelltown | Review

Unity Park Playground in Campbelltown is an old school accessible playground that’s fully fenced and fully shaded.

This quiet, suburban park in Campbelltown features a fully fenced and fully shaded playground with dedicated accessible features. A wheelchair-friendly ramp circles one end, with regular activity boards along the way. Alphabet, counting and clock boards flank the ramp, and a wobbly mirror and steering wheel sit at the top of the wide, roomy platform.

The platform can also be accessed via climbing walls, rope nets and ladders, with a set of steps as well. All the ropes are rubber coated, making them much gentler on little hands.

The climbing equipment has a plank bridge with a gentle wobble connecting the platforms, a shop front for imaginative play, and fireman pole-like ropes with footholds.

There’s also two small swings, one suitable for toddlers, and a wide-seat springy koala.

Outside of the playground fence, there’s a drinking fountain, barbeques and a basketball hoop and netball ring.

What we like about Unity Park:

• It’s a fully fenced, fully shaded playground
• There’s thoughtful accessibility features throughout.
• The design of the climbing ropes are more tactile for little hands, and there are different options for different abilities.

Things to consider:

• There are no toilets in the park. The nearest public toilets are 700 metres away, either at Charlesworth Park or the Newton Central Shopping Centre.
• The rubber soft fall makes the playground accessible for strollers and wheelchairs, although the bark chips sometimes encroach on the rubber soft fall. You may need to brush the bark chips off the paths.
• The lawned area in the park can get a little boggy in winter, and you may get muddy feet.

Coffee and food options nearby:

• Newton Central shopping centre is nearby on Newton Road, and has several cafes and takeaway options.
