Winter Wonderland Ice Skating Returns to Glenelg
Brush off the winter blues, strap on your skates and enjoy beachside ice skating – and a special fireworks display – at Glenelg this July.
A Winter Wonderland will be set up in Moseley Square for the month of July, with daily, one-hour ice skating sessions kicking off on Friday 1 July under a marquee.
On weekdays, kids can take to the ice at 10am and take part in various ice games including limbo, basket shooting and mini ice hockey.
And on weekends, at 7pm and 8.30pm, the ice rink will become a dance floor for the Retro Skate sessions, with music from the 80s and 90s, disco lights and a snow-making machine.
To add a bit of sparkle to the event, a special fireworks display will be held for one night only on Friday 8 July (or Saturday 9 July if the weather is unsuitable on the Friday). Wear your winter woollies and watch the display from the Glenelg Foreshore at 8.15pm.
- Open Sunday to Thursday | 10am to 8pm
- Open Friday and Saturday | 10am to 9.30pm
- 1 hour skating session times: 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2.30pm, 4pm, 5.30pm and 7pm with an additional 8.30pm session
- Retro Skate: Friday and Saturday nights | 7pm and 8.30pm
Online Ticket Price: Adult $18 | Child (2-14) $12 | Family (2 Adults & 2 Children or 1 Adult & 3 Children) $40
Skating Aids: $5
Retro Skate: $20
We recommend planning an all day trip with the kids to try ice skating followed by a hot coffee, brunch, lunch or dinner plus a spot of shopping and a must-do playground stop at both the Glenelg Foreshore Playspace and Wigley Reserve Playground. You can also read more about great coffee places and places to eat below.
Once the skating has wrapped up on Monday 25 July, the marquee will host a weekend of winter markets on 30-31 July, from 10am to 4pm. The market stalls will be curated by Gilles on the Ground with live entertainment and room to kick back and relax.
