Yidaki: Free Community Celebration

Celebrate the opening of Yidaki: Didjeridu and the sound of Australia with a night of music, dance and film on the front lawns of the South Australian Museum.

The South Australian Museum and the University of Adelaide present Yidaki: Didjeridu and the sound of Australia – free opening concert on Friday 3 March 2017 from 6pm on the SA Museum front lawns!

As the sun sets over Adelaide set up a picnic, grab some snacks from the Warndu pop-up, pick up a cool drink from the Museum cafe and get ready to be transported to Arnhem Land, the home of the yidaki (didjeridu).

Yidaki Free Community Celebration Programme

  • 6pm | Hear from master yidaki player and Yolngu elder, Djalu Gurruwiwi
  • 6:45pm | Doors open to the Yidaki exhibition with free entry thanks to the support of the University of Adelaide. Be among the first to see this brand new show or take it easy on the lawns and check out short films from the Mulka Project in Yirrkala, North East Arnhem Land.
  • 7:30pm | Dancing time as Yolngu super group Bärra Band take to the stage with their unique blend of world music, hip-hop and rock.

  • For one night only, free entry to the Yidaki exhibition

This is an alcohol free event.
