Nikki Britton – One Small Step – Adelaide Fringe 2020 Review

★★★★★ 5 Stars for hysterically relatable brilliant comedy
I first saw Nikki Britton doing a sampler spot at The Garden Gala this Fringe and instantly thought ‘She is one to see!’ so I booked in for her full show ‘One Small Step’. Note: There is plenty of adult content so it’s not one for the kids.
My guest and I were in hysterics from start to finish… and I must say my companion was guilty of the ugly laugh on more than one occasion. I think one was the moment Nikki suggested she was sick of making men feel intelligent so they’ll sleep with her… *Queue the snorting laughter next to me!*
The themes were totally up our alley, and it seems the entire audience felt the same as we laughed through stories of being a single woman travelling with her mum (who ended up hooking up more than Nikki did), online dating, life affirmations, internet outrage, trying to do our best and a brief segment on the quality of the appendages in the room. Every man had their special moment and compliment, before being brought quickly down to earth.
She improvised though any minor hiccups and had lots of fun with members of the audience, and used holiday snaps to great effect, including the crazy Italian smoking doctor who diagnosed her ankle ‘sprain’.
Nikki’s delivery was SO upbeat and on point, with her words-per-minute rate at least double that of Arj Barker, so I figure that makes her double the value! I would definitely see Nikki again and encourage all of my friends to do the same. I feel like her comedy is of our time and to have a strong female voice is so needed. Support her! Grab your girlfriends, or group of friends – men and women will love Nikki! She is simply hilarious!
Nikki has 3 more shows at the Le Cascadeur at The Garden of Unearthly Delights on the 28th, and 29th of Feb and March the 1st so be quick to not miss out!
