150 Years of People and Produce Exhibition
The Adelaide Central Market is thrilled to be opening a free public exhibition celebrating its 150th birthday.
The iconic exhibition will open on Friday 25 January 2019, and be on display until Sunday 28 April 2019 at the Treasures Wall, State Library of South Australia. The free exhibition, in partnership with the State Library of South Australia, will feature an exclusive collection of items from the archives of City of Adelaide and State Library and from the personal collections of Market traders and customers.
Visitors can discover the story behind the Adelaide Central Market from its beginnings in 1869 and celebrate 150 years of the South Australian institution. Taking in sights, smells, sounds and tastes will be at the forefront of the experience for attendees, with various activities available.
Adelaide Central Market’s 150 Years of People and Produce exhibition will showcase Market icons including Chappy Charlesworth of Charlesworth Nuts, Brian McMahon, previously of McMahon’s Fruit and Veg, and South Australian food legend, chef Cheong Liew.
