Free Bike Training!
Adelaide City Council is currently offering a limited number of places to participate in a bike skills course during the school holidays in April 2015.
If you want to start riding a bike to work or just have the confidence to ride with your family on the weekend, the accredited trainers will help to get you on your way.
The first part of the session will start off in a traffic-free space at Marshmallow Park in the South Park Lands where you will learn:
- Road rules
- The proper use of gears
- How to position yourself on a road so you can be seen by traffic
- Mock road situations and dealing with traffic
- Basic bike maintenance
- Awareness of other riders and riding in a group
For the second part of the session, the group will then be divided into two groups depending upon riding ability. Capable and more confident riders will be taken on a guided ride through the CBD and along the Frome Street Bikeway and the other group will be led on a ride on Park Lands paths.
The bike training is open to families with children in primary school/secondary school (sorry no pre-schoolers).ย Parents must be riding.ย BYO bike & helmet.
Places are limited so please register your interest in either the Saturday or Sunday session by emailing bikeskills@adelaidecitycouncil.com or phone 8203 7885.
